Blinkers not working correctly

Post by Bumgardner544 »

I have a 1998 S90. Recently the blinkers stopped working correctly when the headlights are on. When headlights on the left side blinkers and reverse light are constantly on. Also the emergency flashers do not work. Now when the headlights are off all runs correctly.
My son said it happened when he stopped the car to let someone out and he cut on the emergency flashers for safety (headlights were on at the time).
I have replaced the emergency flasher switch/relay and the headlight switch. Still have the same problem. Any help is welcome.

Short between left tail light, reverse lights and left turn signals.

Look for a short in the rear lighting wiring harness on the left side of the car.

The left tail light is powering the front and rear turn signals which are connected together, the left and right backup lights which are connected together.

There was none. Or at least no indications of any wires shorting out. i even replaced the bulbs and the left side cluster sockets and circuit board. Still no luck.

Take a ohm reading between the left tail light (+) and the backup light (+). that will tell if there is a short of not.
