need part number for sachs awd shocks; are struts on awd same as on fwd? Topic is solved

i need the part numbers for the sachs front struts and awd rear shocks (that look like the ipd volvo shock in pic below) and coil springs. Im ready to do the conversion soon. I thought i already did this once or read it already but cannot find it. also are the struts on awd v70 same as the ones on fwd v70?

Yes front struts cross between (GLT) AWD and FWD. (as opposed to XCs)

my xc has nivomats. and it also has those 2 bolt down holes on the bottom. i already got the nivomat conversion info (part numbers for the coils and shocks) about 2-4 weeks before my xc went out. i lost the info. need it again. that 828 number isnt what i need. the two silver bolt downs on the bottom (pic you edited) is the awd converted model.

Go back to IPD+ or FCP euro. Find the part then scroll down, both vendors have fitment guides that will tell you all the cars the part fits.

Also, since you are converting from XC to AWD standard height, you need to check what the different codes meant, which shocks went with which springs, and which anti-roll bars.

XC have different rear hub assemblies to AWD or 'R' AWD. They are similar but the mounting points on the hub are raised as the car sits higher. The XC's use a YELLOW banded shock and the regular AWD's and 'R' use green banded. I have never been able to get a straight answer if the banding meant different lengths of travel or just different valving.

If you get stuck I pulled a set of Green Nivomats last week from a 1999 S70 AWD. They need new boots and some paint but are not leaking and the shafts are not rusty. I planned to clean, paint and replace the boots over the winter as a project along with another set I have for the 'R'. Haven't checked the part numbers to confirm if they are the same. The boots are the same part used on the 240's front end. There is a thread on how to replace the boots on MVS several years ago. I bought a set of aluminum 'V' blocks for my bench vice to hold the shafts to remove the bottom mount to get the boots on.

Hey, never thought to see if they are the same length as a FWD Nivomat and if the bottom mounts can be swapped?

i dont want nivomats. i want to get rid of my nivomats. i want to do the conversion to the other model coils and AWD shocks.

the factory struts and shocks are sachs. reffered to as Genuine Volvo but are actually sachs. sachs is the oem supplier for at least the volvos from 98 and previous. dont know about 99+. i forgot about that and then remembered, and as a result i looked closer at another 'genuine volvo' shock on fcp or ipd and looked at product pic. it is sachs. *brain fart*
