hello everyone, hope i can help you guys with this minor issue... 99.999% percent of the time is the fuel door lock solenoid. not so much the switch. i have a 2007 Volvo V70 with the same issue. i will post a video on how to replace it. also i will post the link for where you can purchase the item for a very low cost on Ebay i have purchase one and it worked perfectly fine. hope this helps you guys out.

I had an issue with my 2008 XC90 it turn out to be the fuel door lock solenoid.. I baught one on eBay for a really great price with warranty here is the link.. Hope this help someone out..

Hi Did you resolve this? I have the same as you. Voltage to actuate unlock but 0V to lock. See a very momentary -Ve on the meter due to polarity reversing but no voltage. Any advice specifically related to the 0V issue (rather than replacing the locking mechanism which test fine on the bench) would be most appreciated. In UK so no separate in car switch for just filler cap lock. Only central locking buttons and remotes. Thanks in advance.

Just a tip that I found serves me well. I glued a small magnet into inside of the door area that keeps it gently closed so it would not fly open if the latch lock failed or even the gas attendant did not close the door properly.
