Haven't swapped the coils yet (sorry).
All the wiring to the coils look good and all the grounds look effective. It doesn't visually appear to be a wiring issue.
Still getting a P0087 fuel rail system pressure too low code.
When I reset the codes and took the car on a short 10 minute test loop the CEL light didn't come back on (yet).
Pre erasing it, literally all 6 cylinders reported misfire and the generic P0300 one for good measure.

I left VT where it was for about 5 days mini break. Last I knew it was getting towed back to dealership that sold owner the car and they were going to look at it. I'm on standby here in a way - will drive back to VT via Billerica to hit up the largest best junkyard I know.
I'll also be swapping from my wonderful Accord Coupe to a "Volvo in Ford disguise" 2005 Ford Freestyle SE that I bought at auction (the same auction where this family got their "Silver Car" last November.

Anyone know the Freestyle??? It's interesting to you people... Ford owned Volvo as you all know, and built this rare car that's kind of a SUV / Wagon / minivan can't figure it out car that has the Volvo airbags systems, crash protections, high strength steel door side rails, Haldex built AWD system etc... it just has a FoMoCo engine the 3.0 V6 Duralast and oddball (yucky) Ford CVT transmission.
I bought that for $400 cash, wound up having 160K and it runs like A PEACH. Only driven it 3x and about 50 miles, but that car is really something. Guess I got lucky at auction Roulette.

The Freestyle sounds like it was better cared for than the XC90

Can your girlfriends sister return the XC90?

You’ve done the easy things on the XC90 and it still needs a lot more attention

It may be better to move on

I would love to get the Freestyle to their family but I've got it headed to my cousin who's in need. Shame, it seems to be a really good running car so far.
I found out today the blue XC90 we've been talking about here drove off (light throttle) last night and this morning back to that dealership.
I'm awaiting any diagnostic word. Had planned to hit the big auto graveyard for any parts today or tomorrow.

As the onion peels more and more, it's starting to sound like a sticking fuel injector or the fuel pump. But with the high mileage, the other ignition and and filters need to still be addressed.

A couple of years ago, I helped an XC90 owner discover they had a bad fuel issue. It turns out someone may have put something in their gas tank. If it is bad gas, like the gas station pump picked-up sediment, then a clogged fuel pump could cause this issue, thus low pressure and misfiring. That's also why the fuel filter was recommended, in case that was clogged. At the same time, a sticking (open) injector can also cause the low fuel pressure and misfire. It can be distinguished by the type of misfire and how the exhaust sounds and what are the O2 values (and like said earlier, the fuel trims). Both of these can also cause a cat inefficiency code. The third fuel related issue could just be an aged and old fuel pump.

I have seen a tank of Techron or Liqui Moly Jectron fuel injection cleaner improve issues that relate to this in 2 Benzes and a BMW. Not fix since nothing fixes age & wear besides replacement or rebuild, but it did improve the running. This gave more time to do the maintenance.

Interested in hearing what the used car dealership shop says.

Yeah I could also look at the fuel injectors as well for certain.
Going to pull parts this afternoon, but might not have list / options yet from that dealership.
