Has anyone tried another option to the unreliable Volvo hood latch system? I feel like these parts are aging and deteriorating at this point. The last few junkyard ones I've seen are brittle at the little latch arm...
Anybody figured out how to do AeroCatches or Hood Pins? I'm tired of working on them......

There are lots of posts regarding failsafes for getting hoods open with failures. Have a search, you'll find a good number of options.
Hood-pins can be installed on any vehicle though, and the slam panel would be perfect for a mounting location. Or one could easily fab a small bracket from the little pads that the hood rests on.

I have also been worried about this, so I looked at the lever on the drivers side latch and thought it should be reachable from underneath.
I was able to lay on the ground and, knowing where that lever was, simply put my arm up there and feel the lever and trip it.
Stupid easy.

The forums show plenty of reports of bad cables, but basically nothing regarding a latch going bad and leaving someone with a hood stuck closed. The latches themselves last well.
