So, I have this, um, "friend", who recently made an impulse buy on a 2011 c30 r design without looking it over as well as he should have. He absolutely loves the car, how it drives, how it feels, everything about it. The only thing is: it has 190,000 miles on it. We all know a properly maintained Volvo can run a looong time, no doubt about it. After a closer examination, it became obvious this particular beauty is gonna take some time, work and love to restore to its former glory. My "friend" has money coming in at some point but that is a little ways down the road still. He is a single parent to a 5 yr old little girl so being mobile is mandatory. At this time, triage seems the most appropriate tactic to take. From that perspective, the PVC/oil filter housing needs replaced like a thousand miles ago. The vehicle has that tell-tale whistle and if you leave the dipstick out just a little, it blast oil everywhere. So far the main seals seem miraculously ok but I assume that could change at any moment. The cheapest that I have located that kit for was around 250$. I have an intact 03 s40 that actually starts and runs but just requires more to restore than I have to put in it and it's beyond my skill level even if I did. Still, it's an excellent parts car and I have already spoken on donating it to the cause for whoever might need whatever off of it. What i'm wondering, what my friend is wondering,(all right, dang it, its me, there is no friend involved) is if it is possible to rebuild one of these pvc/oil filter housing as a temporary fix until money comes in that I can buy a new one or if anyone possibly has one off a parts car that might still have some life left in it. Is this the correct place for such an inquiry?

I can get you a new diaphragm for your car. You won't need to change the whole unit. Just replace the diaphragm inside. It's easy to get to and I found the part for $15.

I can get you a new diaphragm for your car. You won't need to change the whole unit. Just replace the diaphragm inside. It's easy to get to and I found the part for $15.
If for some reason it doesn’t work out , I have working unit taken off @100kmiles preventative. I can ship it to you or him. Let me know.

Do you how to change it? It’s only the diaphragm so you might need to you tube how to change it
