I just ordered a replacement lower hose but wanted to avoid fitment issues and went with genuine.

Good luck getting FCP to fix their website. I've been trying to get them to correct the engine and trans for my 'R' for years. They just ignore it and then send you a 'How are we doing' email. Hmm...!

The probably copy the Volvo fitment chart, which is also wrong.

Bumping this thread as it came up for me again today

Removing the clamp on the straight -1998 pipe sucks, I could just get a screwdriver on it but could not turn it. I removed the top heater hose and then hacksawed through the old clamp to release it. 5 minutes or so

That's weird.

I'm digging through my photos trying to find pics of the coolant pipes on our cars, because both started as N motors and have since switched to RN (P80 or P2) coolant pipes (For the RN oil pans) that have the hoses pointed towards the front and still used the hoses I originally purchased for the N configuration.

Of course I can't find any pics of the earlier pipes, but I may have them in the garage.

I think the N hose will fit an RN motor, but an RN hose will not fit an N motor

I don't recall chopping up the N hoses to fit.

I just went through the coolant pipes I have on/off the cars.

I have 2 P80 RN, 2 P2 RN and 2 N coolant pipes, ranging from '96-04. All of them face the front of the car.

I’m guessing all your cars are turbos, and we have learned that this is a NA vs turbo variant.
