wipers running very slow on all speeds

Post by zupta82 »

I went to use my wipers today and their really slow. It seems their slow on all speeds. I’m guessing it’s maybe a relay that controls the speeds, like a blower resistor. I have a 1997 Volvo 850

Hello, I went ahead and took the wiper transmission apart and found one of the shafts completely siezed. I had to hammer out the shafts with a punch. I lubed them with antisieze and grease and the shafts work perfectly. Now I got another problem I can’t get the connecting arms to sync properly.

I marked the shaft on the motor to the bracket before I took everything apart and the wipers were in the park position. When I loosened the nut on the motor it did rotate the motor maybe a quarter turn at the most. Here are some pics

Not a great picture but does this help?

Maybe enough detail to get the correct positions.

Check the bearing mounts and rod bushings. They can break, crack and wear out.
