A little problem with my, new to me, '05 XC70. I have the yellow triangle, exclamation point warning light on. But, the text message window is completely on the blink. Initially I get visual "static" displayed, it then settles to a bright green screen. No text. Any hints? After a minute or two operation the warning triangle light goes out.

I would want to see what Vida codes say, at a wild guess its saying the alarm system needs service because the battery in the alarm module has expired. Does the alarm system work? if you set it and open the door does the alarm sound?Faust wrote: 08 Aug 2020, 20:38 A little problem with my, new to me, '05 XC70. The driver information module (DIM) being out might be unrelated, I think thats controlled by the CEM under the dash, not sure.

Thank you for your suggestion on VIDA. However poorly stated the intended thrust of my question was recovery, or replacement, of the text message window.

DIM needs a repair. Google "Volvo DIM repair service", there are plenty of cheap'ish options on ebay. Or there's XeMoDeX that can take care of your wallet.
Orange triangle can be anything from service reminder to stored codes.

I have perfectly good dashboard in my '04 V70. Mileage is practically the same. Can I just swap it without "re-programming"? (Not sure tranny position read out would be the same)

DIM swaps are difficult, ive read even if the codes part numbers match they can sometimes not work. I have a spare with matching numbers, because of the high failure rate, im still yet to test it.

Can't explain it. Working on the larger problem of no high beams, I replaced the multi function switch. Now I have a working DIM, but still no high beams.

Here we go again. As mentioned when I changed my combination switch over the headlight problem the DIM recovered itself. Drove to see a friend to discuss headlight problem, DIM worked fine. While at friends we played with the lights. When I left DIM was gone. Does anyone see a connection? Probably should mention switch is for 05 and 06 only with "trip computer". It is "obsolete", so I went to a junkyard to obtain one. Had pull them from 5 different XC70's to find one with matching part number. Those with a differing part number, do not cure the DIM, nor do they give rise to the blue high beam indicator light on dash.

As I had the DIM working for 1/2 an hour, it gave the message that washer fluid was low. DIM no longer working.jonesg wrote: 10 Aug 2020, 07:20 in the meantime a $20 bluetooth code reader that works with your phone will probably tell you what the orange triangle is alerting.
