If it’s a groove I’d definitely get a replacement from FCP. They’ll take care of you I’m sure.
The ribs/grooves are full, continuous, but the change is felt on finger tip -- can pick with nail.

The FCP team says "We have checked multiple belts and they all have this mark, presumably it's a point of reference since both sides are grooved." FCP also confirmed the belt is installed correctly.

Returning to tapping noise troubles.

There are a few (3, I think) plastic retainers that secure rigid brake/PS lines and one that retains the wire for your rear O2 sensor. Just squeeze those with a needle-nose to allow the metal plate to drop down. Remove the 4 12mm bolts & the plate should just drop down. There are separate "hangers" (#4) helping to hold up your downpipe/catalytic converter above this plate, so no worries about the flex joint.
I am suspecting the rigid brake line knocking on bracket. One plastic retainer was out.

This part is subject to an update says VIDA. Looking at your subframe you dont need to drill holes to update new style bracket..lucky

Sorry part number 4 is the updated bracket. its attached to the subframe instead of that (part 4) crossmember. The crossmember then only supports one brake line.

VIDA lists this part as a recall item or similar. Not sure what the design problem is, i replaced it because one of the (item 10) rubber mounts was torn. I had to drill holes into the subframe which wasnt easy.

Its definatly more secure than it was before, if your mounts are not torn then i wouldnt worry.

Any work like Servo, regular drain and fills and which fluid is so? Trans issues has kept me from looking at those years even if the car was in great shape.

Same! Remembering JRL, he would assign junk label to all 2001 trannies. Never needed B4 Servo. Frequent Simple D&F using Mobil ATF 3309 has worked fo me.

All fluid carrying hoses and pipes were replaced. All seals and gaskets were replaced with OE/Volvo. Lubrication and Cooling systems were fully restored to factory.

OK, great. All looks dry under the engine. Now, moving to this fix -- loud at the cat/flex connection:

oragex wrote: 30 Jan 2020, 09:27 That would be good to listen with the hood open, may even use a hose at the ear approached carefully away from rotating belt/pulleys. I'm thinking maybe the tensioner is not adjusted on cold engine ?
Not sure how to upload an .mp4 file. Here it is... tapping audio/video sound under the carriage:
download/file.php?id=51383
The tapping noise remains an unresolved mystery. Here is a video clip taken from the ground on passenger side download/file.php?id=51383.

I am open to any pointer. Intermittently comes and goes away.
