V70 2000 (new shape) HELP locked out !

Post by Loughtan »

HELP !

keyfob won't open the doors, (or the spare key) nor will the key in the door lock open it up, just raises the button slightly but doesn't engage the handle mechanism.

Alarm led is still flashing as normal but I'm stuck. :x

Any ideas ?

Maybe try a shot of graphite lube into the locks. Can you tell us anything more about recent changes to the vehicle? Any messing around with electrical recently? And is this a problem in both doors and the hatch?

Hi
no work done on the vehicle, last used a week ago as we use wife's renault for local runabout during the week, it's just not talking to me this morning !
The door lock feels free but doesn't raise the button all the way, but not enough to do anything, and I can't see any other way into the vehicle without damage. the passenger door doesn't have a keyhole to try, nor does the tailgate.

might it be low battery volts with not being used much, why does the key in the door not work ?

Can you not open any of the other doors, or the trunk with the key?

I'm thinking it's a an immobilizer or central locking mechanism issue. You're probably going to have to get the dealer to help you with this particular problem. Trouble is it's going to be difficult to even tow this car if you can't get into it to put the transmission into neutral. You may have to try the old coat hanger trick or call a locksmith who has one of those slender bars to open your door. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

Are you absolutely certain that it doesn't have a keyhole on the trunk? On my '99, there is one, but it's hidden behind a little flip down door type thing. Kind of easy to overlook. Here's a pic of mine. Just above and on the passengers side of the rear tag. Find the little door, stick your finger nail in the top seam and pull down! I'm sure there's one there somewhere.

Then it is at least a '01 and not a '00 model (at least in the U.S.).

It was worth a shot. I guess the only options are what MIJ have already mentioned then. Dealer or coat hanger. A locksmith may be able to get into it. I dunno though. Sorry.
