I am just finishing up a few repairs and will be sending my car in for a four wheel alignment. I have been doing my own alignments roughly with the string technique and a carpenter's level for camber. The toe is about 2mm each side and I try to get the camber as close to zero as I can without an alignment rack. Does anyone have any "favourite" specifications for a daily driver, city and highway use XC 70?
One of the issues I have that I don't know if it is just a Volvo thing is: on tight steering for example in a parking lot or driving into the garage, when the wheels are turned almost to full lock left or right, the steering wheel will continue to turn in that direction to full lock. It seems to me that most vehicles should be biased to return the wheel to center when let go. This is my first Volvo so I'm not sure if they all do this? Can anyone provide some input? It seems like it turns too tight and scrubs the tires too much. I'd like to know what the caster is currently, I've replaced most of the front end parts including the struts and strut mounts, the car sits a little higher in the front than it did before, might this have changed the caster?

Just a supposition, I think as these cars get old, the subframe bushings start affecting the steering somehow. Mine keeps pulling to one side after being parked for a while - even more so when parked on an incline.
