After reading several repair procedures on an S60, I believe you drill out pop rivets in the fender liner, tie the liner back, remove the serpentine belt, hold the clutch with a special tool I don't have, remove 4 bolts that you can't see to release the compressor from the engine, cock the compressor with your third hand so the clutch disk can be removed, hope you don't lose count of the shim washers that fall out, then reassemble. Is that about right?

I'm also looking at the bread clip/wire tie fix.

The S80 does have a longer front structure with some space to work like you describe.

Yeah, the S60s do suck for this.

I did my v70 from underneath with zip ties, rotating the clutch so that each leaf was forward to work on it

I'm gonna take a look at this on the S80, I have to repair a PS pressure hose leak as well.

BTW, I found that Dorman makes a 10mm high pressure compression union that could allow me to cut and splice a new line assembly into the old without the ordeal of unscrewing the tube coupling from the rack. There's even an Amazon review from a guy doing this on a V70.

You don’t need to remove the whole liner, just fold the bAck the front piece.

It’s designed with a crease in the right place

Just careful as the upper liner clips at the fender are pretty annoying and may damage the paint if forced. The liner itself is quite stubborn to put back on those two small studs
