Im curious: Scotty Kilmer (YT) Fun Fact: S80 meme with MANUAL tranny?!

Post by CIK7 »

Scotty Kilmer has a different personality than most mechanics and he releases videos on YT with free vehicle information for the public. He LOVES to use funny memes for his points and laughing memes when he (frequently) laughs. This here seems to be ONE meme of maybe 3-4 that he frequently uses. Its a girl sitting in a late 2000s s80 with a MANUAL transmission. Does anyone know about a manual s80 in europe or asia? I'm curious.

No S80 manuals for North America.

The rest of the world:
M56 1999 - 2006
M65 1999 - 2001
M66 2007 - 2015 +
MMT6 2006 - 2015+
MTX75 2008 - 2011

M65 is the only transmission that will fit a P2 with a 2.9L other then the GM 4T65 automatic. Volvo designed it from scratch for the P2 S80 T6. It is the smallest manual gearbox in the world.

its stupid that most of the fun volvos (refering to manual) are sold outside the US. 960 with a manual? ill take that, thank you!

I found this info on 960 manual swap at Brick Board. Brick Board is good for older, rear wheel drive Volvo information. Of course, for newer, front wheel drive, MVS is best.

https://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/87 ... _swap.html
Short version is get a European manual transmission or use Borg Warner T5 transmission. Then you could claim T5 squared! Or TT25.
No charge for the naming suggestion.

I've been a rider in a S80 2.0 5 speed manual when I was working in Bulgaria

https://www.autoevolution.com/cars/volv ... 80-2006-20

If we has a manual transmission option here in the USA then I would have bought a stick shift.

Instead I bought a 2010 S80 3.2 Automatic

I bought mine about 12 years after being driven around in the 2.0

Clearly it left a good impression.

It wasn't fast but it was and still is a really nice car to ride in.

And now that I own one I realize that its a nice car to drive as well

Take care

Paul

With the shift kit in the 4T65 it shifts great and the car is very quick already. Can't imagine the extra gear(s)!
