I got mildly disappointed today, as for the first time in 3 years my 850 let me down... Crank but no start scenario, troubleshooting begins tomorrow (bank holiday, luckily!). Currently I suspect CPM as I have both fuel and air, and my crank speed is normal so starter is good. Haven't checked spark yet, but its the only one left. If I have air, fuel, and spark I will terribly confused. Oddly, it does cough every 20s or so of cranking, and tries to run for 0.5-1s. I suppose lawnmower syndrome is plausible, but I have no recollection of starting the car since Fri when it completed an 80mi trip.

I think you're on the right track. Check either the cam sensor or crank sensor.

Rolled my fenders some more because I was getting alot of rub last night with 3 passengers in the car. It seemed like it was mostly hitting the plastic so also pulled the wheel well liners and cut out some clearance there too. While I was in there I took a wire wheel to the surface rust and hit them with a couple coats of rust-reformer paint.

Also replaced my super crusty exhaust manifold with an aftermarket unit from 1A Auto, plus Volvo gasket and hardware. I ran out of time so I only replaced 4 of the exhaust studs.

Odometer hit 219k today

Pull the gas pedal out of the way, pull pin to left. Unclip pedal

Yellow clamps face down to engage slots

It’s just possible to sneak the bi]ulkhead past the climate unit without removing it.

Top goes spacer oring spacer oring

Torx 25 on heater core screws, Torx 15 on side screws

Torx 25 machine bolt on core bulkhead, dimension in picture

Swapped my brake pedal position sensor since I had a p1041 and a code stored in the ECM for it, plus no cruise control. Before I did it I read that for 99's sometimes the ETS light is tripped by the position sensor. Now my 1041 is gone, cruise control is back and what do you know 100 miles of mixed driving later no ETS light either.
