99 V70R - lost reverse

So today while backing it to the garage I LOST reverse. Car drives fine forward no issues. When I select R car does not move and I hear transmission wine, I did drain and fill ( 300 miles ago). Anything I can check or look for another trans?

Assuming being a 99 it has the 4 speed auto trans? Normally if the reverse stops working it is the start of the transmission failing.

Did you confirm the oil level when hot is correct?

I’ve got a decent 1998 4 speed already out over here in NY. I could get it as Far west as Buffalo in short order

Yes it is 4 speed. I did another drain and fill , took for 20min drive. Checked fluid level while car was dunning and level is between low and hi but closer to low so I will add a little.

When my 1998 GLT S70 lost an exhaust valve at 175K, I drove it (w the #3 injector d/c'd).

At 185K, I lost reverse. It was the final straw. Traded the car for $350. Bought a 2004 V70 w 100K...

I found trans from V70 AWD with 130K for $400. Is the price fair?

It’s all in the logistics of shipping of course.

Mine is available vs the FDPP which is to say anything you care to pay gets donated back to board or if times are tight it’s a $0 item to you
