Volvos are Big - Subarus are Small. Discuss.

I'm always intrigued by the perception of Subarus being "small and sensible," while I drive a "big" Volvo. This looks like someone put the Subie on a copier and blew it up 10 or 15%.

Let's not forget the real enemy here... taken on my trip to Grand Tetons a few weeks ago.

Someone recently posted a pic of an Outback car cover draped over a V70. It looked like a kid in their dad's pajamas.

My next car will most likely be a 4th gen Legacy with the 3.0 :D

I've always found the P80s to not be that big: my 940 sedan is longer than my V70. The square shape make them look somewhat thin compared to modern cars, or even something like a E39 sedan

If you put a 99 Subie next to a 99 XC70 it is a different picture. That SUbie used in those photos should be parked next to a P2 XC70.

Had a friend and her husband go check out the 14 Outback instead of a Camry and I later went back with them to negotiate. If I remember correctly that was the first year of the next newer body style. Big, wide, quiet, smooth, super comfortable and stable on the freeway. Almost bought one also a couple years later.

In 2019 the Subaru Ascent was first choice and more nimble than the 19 Altas but opted for the bigger Altas in a V6 with the now discontinued The People First Warranty 6 years/72,000. Friend's co-worker was having trouble with his newer XC90 so decided to skip even looking at it.
