Water pipe, Water pipe

Post by Mike Langlois »

Greetings One and  All,
2002 V70 X/ 170k miles. I have pondered the water pipe on the rear of the motor for some time; why do the smaller pipes to the turbo not leak? I currently have the head off the motor for some totally unneessary performance upgrades and woud like to service the water pipe if neessary. Can this pipe be servied, liek installing new o rings? This is the pipe that bolts to the rear passenger side of the head, sends coolant to the turbop and connects to the lower radiator hose.

Let’s pull up and post the diagram.

I have two engines sitting free at moment, maybe I should pull this off to add the knowledge to the collective brain.

Here’s the non turbo version. It looks like there is an o-ring in the rear of the water pump, towards driver side

i removed that pipe on my p80 v70, the pipe had cracked at the welded joint. it needed to come out and welded but i just replaced it. was a fair pain to remove and clean the area for new gasket but doable. If the pipe doesnt leak leave it be.
