Suck - or should I say slurp - it off of the vac tree behind the throttle body. Be prepared to reset a CEL.

Seafoam, interesting stuff
Gentlemen, please don't put that stuff in the vacuum system. I used it to remove the carbon from my two stoke outboard motor, the purpose for which it was initially made. I believe strongly that if you inhale those fumes you will do lasting damage to your lungs. It might even kill you, or cause cancer. It should be the same product as the in the carb cleaner spray. Please put it in the crankcase. If you make it airborne, you can't control it.

Good point. Plus, who knows what the effects of this stuff are on plastic or neoprene parts? A friend of mine just spent a looong time figuring out how badly he messed up his EGR valve and a couple of plastic parts on his throttle body, on his Lexus (edit: he was using 'carb cleaner').

Found the vac tree....any particular branch, or just one of the "unused" branches with a rubber cover on it....also, what do you mean by reset a CEL?Ozark Lee wrote:Suck - or should I say slurp - it off of the vac tree behind the throttle body. Be prepared to reset a CEL.

Any vacuum tree inlet will work...it all goes to the same place.
Have fun and please give us a report.

Ran Seafoam through the intake today. Attached a 1/4 inch diameter vacuum line to the tree branch, and sucked in about 5 ounces of seafoam. Shut off the engine, waited 10 minutes, started engine and ran engine at 2500 to 3000 rpm for about 5 minutes. Lots of white smoke from the tailpipe....Seemed to work fine. I will add it to the crankcase when I am closer to an oil change.
Here's my question....Would the results be the same if you were to use Gumout or some other fuel additive engine treatment to the intake? Why only Seafoam?

Good question and I don't have the answer. All I know is that we're hearing rave reviews about SeaFoam and not about Gummout, etc.

How long can SeaFoam sit in the crankcase? Does it matter?

Got to do it... finally...
Ohhhh it smoked alright.
I did it through the Vacum line from the brake booster. Reason being I was already replacing the PNP switch and I really could not ID the three tee by the throttle as mine seems to have more than three and I was not sure if it was the correct place to tap into.
It's not easy to do alone...
The car ran rough with the vacum line wide open so I rigged a piece of 2x4 between the pedal and the drivers seat.
The seafoam was sucked up very fast... so fast the car cut out almost at the end of the drink.
So I gave it the 15-20 minutes, and started the car.
Starting the car was nerve racking as it did not want to start and then when it did, it pu putted away.... Then I gave it a little gas and the smoke was thick and white.
Drove it about 5 miles and lets see how she responds tomorrow.
I will post back my findings as the days go by.
