2004 XC90 Cooling Fan In-Op

Good Evening Folks;
My first posting here, but I admit to having poached some very helpful information from you over the years. The issue at hand here is that my daughter's XC90 2.5 5 cylinder's electric cooling fan appears to have failed. I have swapped it for a supposedly good one from a local recycler with no joy, and the question I have for you assembled Volvo experts is where is the fan relay / controller located? I have looked all over the engine compartment and cannot see a likely suspect. With colder weather here in Eastern Canada the fan is not as necessary as it was in July, but I do want it fixed.
