I think you are one good pothole away from sliding down the street on your underwear when that car shaped blob of rust self destructs.

She very quietly asked me to spend some time with her and promised with some love, she would give me another three years of light use. After that she will yield her M56 and go to classic car heaven at 25 years old

I'm thinking Neil Young as the Creator in this case.
I grew up on the east coast with all the salt etc but wow ! Now all these years later I do appreciate the sand/cinders approach used out here. None of my vehicles have any rust including my '78 work truck.
Now rubber is a different issue...

We also have the salt issue, but it wasn't too bad until they starting spraying liquid death about 5-6 years ago. Now the cars even a few years old shoe impressive rusting qualities we didn't used to have.
The anti-icing agent is a stupid idea. When I questioned the city roads department as to what testing was done before using it for the environment or the affects on vehicles and other materials like concrete (driveways) none was the answer.
They guy then went onto to complain what it does to the steel bridgework and what it does if it gets into cracks with rebar.
The obvious answer is to mandate winter tires although studded tires are not allowed due to the damage they cause.
Global warming is part of the issue as we used to get a lot of 'chinook' (warm) winds coming over the mountains in the winter which was cheap road melt. We don't seem to get that as much anymore so snow and ice sits on the roads for more of the year. Chinook winds were the reason for no studded tires as obviously bare pavement got chewed up.
I spent 3.5 months under the Toyota 2 winters ago de-rusting the frame and suspension. All that work appears to have been mostly wasted as rust is coming through again.
So, I wish you luck and having all the spares will certainly help.
Neil.

I am kind of here with Grunhilde.
I can yank engine and part it out and have more taxes to pay.
or
A needy person nearby can get 2-3 years light duty use out of her, my scavenged parts stay on her, and eventually she comes back havng helped someone through a rough patch.

Amazing, that rust bucket would fail on just about every single rust related check present on the MOT over here. I'd be parting it out, but then that's probably due to being conditioned to detest anything crusty by very rust-intolerant MOTs. I'm so conditioned that I'd be anxious about jacking it up, let alone driving it.

Its perfectly acceptable to use wooden cribbing to prevent the seats from falling onto the pavement here. The fancy people even use pressure treated cribbing to show off their wealth.
