I went to the bone yard this morning to get some parts for my BMW. Found a bonus for the S70. Im quite sure they will outperform my pitted originals.

I wonder how that went... the crank would have to come out as well, so that seems like a lot of work just to re-ring.

Eeew... jewels with a waterfall grille. They need an egg crate to look right. That reminds me, I need to figure out a way to graft an egg crate onto my Mountaineer!

It means that I'm too sophisticated for a plain Jane Explorer. I demand luxury!

...that said the seats are cloth for some reason. Any other Mountaineer I've seen has leather. It's supposed to be positioned between the Explorer Eddie Bauer and Limited, and those both had leather standard as far as I know. These cloth seats seem to have absorbed every nasty smell over the years... gotta figure out how to clean that out permanently.

Took the wagon to a muffler shop that was able to cut out the split flex pipe and install a new one. The owner suggested a motor mount may be bad as there is very limited rust or rot in the pipe. The inside of the pipe was still shiny and it looked like a clean shear off at the end. It happened after hitting the gas hard on the highway.

After reading through the files i believe that the pipe was last replaced in 2008 along with a catalytic converter. They had to hold onto the car as it needs an exhaust manifold gasket before it is good to go. The welds look really professional and it is clean so im hoping it will last another few years.

I was going to say, that seems really fast for the flex pipe to be rotted out again. It probably had increased stress on it for some reason.
