Also, adding to the topping. I got suggestion to swap all electronics (pnp switch, sensors, etc) from my 99 to that 2000 trans and it should work. 2000 car was turbo 2.4 but I do not have the vin from it.
Both 1999 and 2000 4 speed trans with Turbo-charged engine models have gear ratio 2.56:1 as far as google search.

Best bet, find a 99 XC or 99 FWD turbo. If you pick FWD, you can sell your angle gear and prop shaft. Or you could re-convert later.

Enough damage for insurance to total it, but light enough that I doubt the trans would be bad. You may try to get someone to pull it for you and ship . It has its risks, but possibly its rewards as well.

Thank you for the link looks like it is in Canada so shipping will most likely expensive. On top of it I called dealer's, Erie Vo-Vo, Vandsautodismantlers was not able to get an answer on what is the difference between
99 R vs 99 AWD transmission. Search is still on.

If you look the specs up in the owners manual (online) if there are gear differences those would be listed.

1st gear 3.61:1
2nd gear 2.06:1
3rd gear 1.37:1
4th gear 0.98:1
Reverse 3.95:1
So, I think these trans are very very similar. Can some one please prove me wrong?

The basic transaxles are the same for the AWD(GLT), XC, and AWD (R), it's the suspensions, and in the case of the R, the motor that differ.
