So I’m doing a timing belt on an 06 S80, got a conti kit with Aisin pump from Rock Auto. Watched every YouTube video 10 times and read 1000 posts and replies across all different forums. Seemed pretty straight forward, friend told me to lock the cams but I didn’t, original job went okay but the belt kept walking to the back of the cam sprockets... reset the tensioner maybe 20 times.. figured that was where I made my mistake. Read it could be the belt.. it was shipped pretty poorly so put the old belt on, it started walking to the back of the cam pulleys. I did the CCW shuffle before every time I removed the belt to unload the VVT hubs but I felt the cam move the last time. I removed the rear cam sensors and reluctors to confirm sure enough cams are advanced.. ugh.. anybody want to help me move forward on this?
How do I reset the cams can I just walk them back or do I need to go forward one full rotation? I’ll be researching this of course but if anybody could lend a hand that would be incredible.
Crank is at TDC.. picture below shows the cams... I’ve never been this buried by a repair/maintenance.. feeling very ill over it.
Timing belt 06 S80, I’ve never screwed up this bad in my whole life. Topic is solved

First link was pretty good.. can anybody tell me do I need to remove the vvt hubs and start from scratch or can I lock the back, lock the crank, turn the hubs to line up with their original marks and call it a day?
O and in the Volvospeed video I found following the links can I just turn the cams back as easy as they did? Ie straightslot screwdriver turn them the 20ish degrees back rather than all the way around 340ish degrees... may seem like a stupid question but I thought I read you could only turn the cams one way... which doesn’t even makes sense since we do the CCW shuffle to unload the VVT hubs.

Took a video of my progress.
I backed the cams back.. intake VVT is smooth currently resting at TDC at full stop.. Exhaust is very rough, resting at TDC not quite at full stop. Anybody care to chime in?

Sorry to overpost yesterday. Was kind of freaking out.. cooled down and collected my thoughts. So I borrowed the tool to lock the cams.. but it’s the short version, doesn’t have the extensions I see on some of the options online. Does anybody know if the 06 S80 requires the extensions? I’m not sure I need it since I have marks I just wanted to use it as extra precaution. What I’ve surmised is my intake cam is dead on.. its clockwise rotation stops on my yellow timing mark I painted at the beginning of this nightmare. My exhaust cam is still out 1/2 tooth, the clockwise rotation ends in the valley just to the left of the correct tooth. So I need to tweak that cam the 1/2 tooth and I’m ready to move ahead.
Anybody want to confirm my analysis?

Just to put a bow on this.. car is back together, runs great no CEL.. all the doom and gloom was me over-reacting.. locked the cams in the rear, crank on the mark. Put the belt back on using my original marks, like CN90 had said I believe in a tbelt guide all the cars cares about is that the teeth are x many teeth apart.. 62 teeth (yours may be different) between the mark I made on the rear side of the crank pulley and 18 teeth between the intake and exhaust cams.
