s60 p2402 high pump

Post by 1998v70xcbill »

I just got to fix a s60 t5 2014. It gave error p2402, my reader said high circuit for evap pump (leak detection pump), High can mean many things, not just high circuit resistance. It can also mean high current. I checked the fuse (maybe 39) 5 amp for sure. The relay is before the fuse. When I checked for 12v at the fuse (5A) it was there as soon as i opened the door. Ordered a new leak detection pump. Hard lines come off with strong pulling (lube could have helped) . Go on with lube, not so bad. Code gone, for now. Now waiting for large and small evap test to pass. nice car, Not mine.

In most common DTC lingo high would mean bad connection, bad part, broken wire. The module applies a 5V signal to many (most on that 2014) circuit legs and can detect 3 things: 1. short to ground when the circuit voltage is nearly 0V, 2. expected circuit voltage, something between .5 to 4.5V in huge number of cases, or 5V to System voltage indicating or short to battery voltage. "High" as the description will have checks for the component and then connections. A few circuits, very few, like the airbag and other pyrotechnic safety stuff, can detect the difference between open and short to system voltage but most lump open circuit and a short to something over 5V as the same code.
