You have to monitor quality wherever parts are made, correct. I’ve had good/ bad parts from most everywhere, just like people.

Hopefully I was programming back in the days I agree with everything said. A country is not a perfect measure of quality, nor is a brand name. I no longer consider the genuine parts to be all good either - I know it may sound like an heresy, but we need to look at the market. Volvo relation with quality is no longer what is was in the past, and their replacement parts can suffer as a consequence. Volvo replacement exhaust parts have been shown to have abysmal durability. I also have their replacement shocks and I'm far from impressed with the ride quality (Made in Turkey as well). Some people make the mistake to think a part made in Germany must be good. Just think at the long term quality of german cars and you may come to a different opinion. Behr is making cabin blowers for all european cars, and these always fail prematurely. European car makers have no other choice but to source parts from a few very large european companies that make parts of various quality. The bigger the company, the more the products, the more the chances of loose quality - they need to keep designing new parts to furnish car companies who always come with new models, etc. Lemforder is now selling strut bearing plates that last a few months. Nothing lasts is forever, enjoy while it has quality (just think about how good were appliances made in USA before all production shifted to China)

So... We all report on the success and failures of parts and brands as we gain experience with them. Sort of closing the barn door after the horse is out and long gone. The best we can do for each other.
