96' 850 rear door glass separated from rail

Hello Everyone,
I took the rear passenger door panel off to investigate why the glass was kind of sagging when trying to open the window.
The problem is that the glass separated from the rails which clamp the bottom edge.
Hopefully I am describing this somewhat plausible, also here are 2 photos showing what's going on:

Can I re- glue this with some magic silicone, or do I have to buy new glass with the rails attached from the factory?

Well if it was me, I'd go talk to your local glass store. One that does all kinds of glass work, inc car side windows.
I'm thinking that they use a mastic adhesive in that metal piece. You/they would probably need to remove the window to do it right.

I think I will talk to a glass place about what kind of glue I should use, maybe they can even sell something to me. The bottom edge of the glass can be cleaned while in the car I think, and I can take the rail pieces out and clean them too. I can even take the rails with me to the glass place to give them a better idea. Sounds reasonable?

I still wonder what others have done, I can't be the first to encounter this.

Makes sense. They can tell you from that. Seems like some window glass is just pressed on over some kind of rubber strip. But I have never dealt with Volvo windows. Yet...
