Engine stuttering. P0090 and P2177
Gday all. I've got an 09 C30 that is occasionally sputtering after idle and sometimes dies outright. I assume it is a fuel supply issue but I haven't been able to find an answer. I replaced the fuel pressure sensor from a prior code but afterwards I got this issue and the new codes. I searched for a fuel pump relay but can only find a reference to a fuse #74. The diagrams of the fuse block show no fuel pump relay. I haven't been able to find a video or article about fuel pump replacement or anything related to the C30. The issue hasn't occurred at speed at any time. It is only after idle. I can stop the car, turn it off, and the issue sometimes goes away. It is very frustrating.

Check list.
ECM-290B ( P0090 ) Fuel pressure.
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-290B
Condition
The engine control module (ECM) controls the fuel pressure via the fuel pump (FP) control module using a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal. The fuel pump (FP) control module then controls the fuel pump (FP) depending on the pressure requested by the engine control module (ECM). The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored If the actual pressure (measured pressure from the fuel pressure sensor) pulses too much.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is idling.
For information about fuel pressure regulation, see VIDA Design and Function.

Thanks Rick. I'm checking the PEM next. Any idea where it is in the C30?

Ended up swapping the PEM with another unit from my other 09 C30 and drove around. Got the P2177 code again but not the P0090. So, now what? I read that it could be vacuum lines, or the fuel filter, MAF, or the pump, etc. Good Grief.

Clear all codes. P2177 is almost always cause by another code.
You might want to try another scanner. Some do not show pending codes. Some do not read all the codes. You can get a free scan at Autozone.

ECM-532D (P2177) High emissions. Faulty signal
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-532D
Condition
Diagnostic functions in the engine control module (ECM) have activated substitute values that result in fuel shut-off. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored in the engine control module (ECM) if it detects that fuel shut-off has been activated by the diagnostic function to such an extent that emissions may be negatively affected.
Substitute value
None.
Possible source
Faults that are detected by another diagnostic function and whose substitute values result in fuel shut-off.
Fault symptoms
Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
Jerky operation.
