Rear wiper nozzle direction?

Post by qwertyjjj »

The rear wiper spray nozzle seems to be pointing down instead of up (probably got iced up in the winter).
How can I reposition it?

Also, my current blade starting position seems to be on the right whereas in some videos I see it on the left - is there a way to reset the starting position with the ignition key?

The nozzle issue is here. You need the tie rod puller ($10 at local part store) to help pull the wiper arm off:

The rear wiper arm resting position is LEFT. Idk how yours ended up on the right side, maybe some gurus will chime in later.

I replaced the motor a couple years ago and in the process somehow got it to park on the right.
So, obviously there's a way to reset it but don't know how.

Some of the rear wipers park to the right and some to the left. I don’t know what years went what direction. If you have the wrong wiper for your particular car then the nozzle deflector will spray downward rather than up onto the glass.

Interesting as I always thought the P2 V70 rear wiper always rest on the LEFT side.

If you do a google image search using key words such as "2003 Volvo V70 tailgate...", you will see images showing BOTH R and L parking position.

Go figure...

Now I am curious in terms of fluid source...

- Is it from the top squirting downward...or...

- From the wiper motor spindle squirting up?

On my 2003 V70 Base model it's from the wiper motor spindle squirting up.

Wiper motor spraying up.
I'm almost certain it used to be on the left until I changed the motor. Maybe the positioning is based on the replacement motor and not the computer?

interesting .. post, both of my cars 2002 and 2002 park on the left. Simply removing the arm and parking it on the left will not work as it will try to wipe your number/licence plate . As they say a picture would tell a thousand words.
