Unless is an experiment in acoustic, I found it to be a clever arrangement of a wind instrument next to strings!

After the rear suspension refresh, I imagined resurrecting the subframe at some point. But, here are my parts list for exhaust maintenance - curing the tapping noise.vtl wrote: ↑21 Aug 2020, 07:42 Plan for the following maintenance step: body plastic cladding removal and corrosion inspection :(
Next summer is rear subframe drop, for $700+ bushings replacement and rust proofing the connection spots where subframe gets bolted to the chassis. They are/were rusted on all P2s I had/have.
Sigh... Rust proofing starts with the first owner of the car. My Tundra will not rust, I'd guess ;) Still has to clean my garage floor from the sticky 1600 drops.

After the recent idle and engine cut-off issue during a road-trip, it is somewhat stable but not fully; more here viewtopic.php?f=9&t=95124.
The fresh air pipe, TCV and MAF were replaced, but the stutherring to smooth idle continues after 880 miles of Relearn drives.
Close to 202k-mi
Any thoughts?

Thank you vtl!
Would VIDA show any relative code to guide the next step?

The intermittent tapping noise was due to a missing (deteriorated and fallen) hose conduit, a 3 inch rubber piece located a foot behind the subframe on passenger side. The hard line #14 travels along the fuel line and connects charcoal canister to purge valve at the fan assembly. The open line made the noise escape the vacuum chamber.xHeart wrote: ↑15 Aug 2020, 10:21
The tapping noise remains an unresolved mystery. Here is a video clip taken from the ground on passenger side https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forum ... p?id=51383.
I am open to any pointer. Intermittently comes and goes away.

The makeover is coming to close. All critical parts are Volvo, and quality OEM parts. A ballpark cost of $4387
Here are some highlights since October 2018.
- Lubrication system service: oil pan, oil cooler, oil pump and the PCV
- Fuel system service: fuel filter, fuel rail, and injectors, and intake manifold service
- 2nd Timing Belt: All TB parts, water pump, all serpentine belt parts, front and rear cam seals, and VVT hub replacement –– learned how to manually align crank marks
- Rear suspension refresh: Spring, shocks, links, spring insulator, and shock mount, and coated the rear under-carriage with rubberized rust resistant paint
- Cooling service: radiator, thermostat, hoses, and temperature sensor
- Steering pump service: fluid and seals, and inner and outer tie rod
- Front Brake service: calipers, pads, rotor, and in-situ brake line flaring and repair
- Air Intake service: all hoses and pipes, air filter, turbocharger, intercooler, MAF, TCV, MAP, ACT sensors, and upgrade to XeMODeX throttle body
- Alternator service: replaced INA OAP, upgraded to Volvo Voltage Regulator - Bosch 8637851
- Replaced front seats from a donor car, restored PSM module, and replaced climate control bulbs
- Many small things along the way -- paint retouch, exterior cladding restoration, protection and weatherizing, new tires, looms
Many thanks to MVS Mavericks, and pgill's $10,000 S80 Challenge

Now some serious considerations: my 2.5T blew exhaust valve at ~220k. Cam lobes showed no valve clearance (thermal gap between their backs and tappets). The donor engine I took apart in winter had about the same mileage and about the same gaps picture. Many-many more 5 cylinders died around that mileage.
Looks like 220-240k miles is a Rubicon for valve clearance, not to mention completely worn out valve stem seals.

A thread with 250,000 Miles Climb could guide us there.vtl wrote: ↑28 Oct 2020, 10:08 Now some serious considerations: my 2.5T blew exhaust valve at ~220k. Will VIDA provide DTCs to help with failing engine? Is ECM-4801 relevant here?
