Old stone is cool (attractive). Old container is hot (too warm).

Yes, yes, I admit that. But, the interest of ship containers is that you may build everywhere, like bring them as high as the top of tree...

Shipping containers are interesting, I admit. They have been used in many ways. However, the corrugated sides provide a lot of the structural strength. Cutting out openings for door and windows may cause failure. Be careful. In the USA, city land use zoning laws sometimes limit building types.

Welding will be useful if I switch from an old traditional house to a container assembly...
Now these are also things I know how to do! A minimal glass and steel shape located carefully with an ancient stone building could be cool. The old and the new can speak to each other if done well.

Most containers are limited to 8' wide, so they are long skinny shapes. By the time you add insulation and wall finish, you have a very narrow space, and not very tall either. You can cut them up and add them together - at some point you are spending more than just framing it with all new.

Manovlov, Like me, you are posting a lot the last few days. Has your outdoor weather turned to winter? At my home, we had 2 days of freezing rain and steady temperature about 31 to 34 F (0 to 1 C).

Yes, not really fun but it can be satisfying when you finish.
