It depends on oil quality/thickness and driving habits a lot. Got the car new, used a quality synthetic oil, no 0w30, no driving in 7k RPM range -> longer cylinder head's life.

Compression test on a hot engine will show whether it started leaking through the valves. Of course, removing spark plugs on a hot engine is not good. I'd be just looking at mileage, since 200+ thousand miles on that engine w/o valve lash adjustment is a good, statistically proven sign that it will burn a valve soon.

I am certain, our habit and care of ^above has been stellar since June 2001 -- insurance records. The engine oil has been Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 5W-30 (few years on 5W-40 Pennzoil Euro) for 10 years. Never over 5K rpm.

Days are getting shorter, here is the restored ECC:

Refreshed the alternator with OAP and the upgraded Volvo Voltage Regulator - Bosch 8637851 with dual passive heat exchanger. The CEM: 0C01 is no longer present.

The rebuild alternator that was installed in 2014 came with aftermarket regulator with single heat sink - malfunctioned. It took surgical procedure. The two screws' head were rusted and stripped. Restored and reused the screws after putting new flathead slots.
