I tested donor seats with a battery and crocodile leads. Made sure that all mothors were working and then went ahead with transplant. I might still have some bits and pieces around if anybody wants them - just let me know. I definitely have a driver seat side airbag lying around.

Three motors, one for moving front and back, one for tilt, and third for up and down. Is the motor for backrest separate from this set of three?

Successfully replaced both front seats. It feels relatively firm than previous -- a placebo effect may be.

All motors are turning and electronic seat controller works. Driver's seat controller is inactive when key in ignition, however it operates with kay out -- normal?

The driver's seat controller will take a reading of instruction manual.

Meanwhile, an hour long vacuuming of floor carpet and under the seats, and then a treatment with Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner is making the upholstery look and feel fresh, both front and rear. It brings out Volvo interior aroma.

Found this:
shanepaterson wrote: 20 Aug 2019, 21:34 From the 2002 V70 manual

Ignition Key

Passenger seat :
The seat can only be adjusted if the ignition key is in position I or II.

Driver's seat: the seat can be adjusted if the ignition key is in position I or II. It can also be adjusted in the following circumstances:
1. Within 40 seconds of the ignition key being turned to the position 0 or removed from the ignition switch.
2. After you have unlocked the driver's door with the key or remote control, the driver's seat can be adjusted during a 10-minute period if the door remains open. If the door is closed, the seat can be adjusted for 40 seconds . The ignition key can be in position 0 or not yet inserted in the ignition switch.

So...unlock the car with the remote and leave the door open for adjustment.

The ^above works in situation when CEM and PSM are not in sync.

A deep dive into Power Seat Module (PSM) in VIDA helped to restore power and memory functions. The CEM would not recognize PSM, thus won't communicate with PSM for it being from a donor car.

I switched the PSM under the driver's seat back to the original equipment; now the front seats are operating with full function!

Nice thread. Read while seated.

Tennis balls make nice protectors for the interior while moving seats. I steal them from the kids tennis court next to the house. The school tells the children never to go near “ Crazy Volvo Man “ house so I keep them whenever they fly in.

Memory serves, it was tucked away under the rear and outer rail, yes?
