v70 98 -- Spark Plug Torque Spec.

Can anyone tell me the proper torque spec. for plugs for a '98 v70, normally aspirated, manual trans.? Thanks much, Evan

I just get them hand tight and then a quarter turn- this compresses the aluminum gasket built onto the spark plug and works out to about the same 18 ft. lbs.

Doublesecret trick: to avoid crossthreading aluminum engines like ours, put them in with surgical or aquarium tubing. Pop one end over the plug's electrical end, then lower it in and twist the other end. You can only thread them correctly that way.

I use a sparkplug wrench, any reason that I should stop?

If you start the wrench with an extension and your fingers, that’s fine. Don’t put the handle on until you have at least 3-4 turns of finger threading

If you are using a spark plug wrench in place of surgical tubing,I don’t think that’s approved yet.
