Is the ECM's readily available or don't even bother considering this one?

ECMs don't typically fail, but it's not impossible. I'm betting they threw in the towel on diagnosing this properly... the customer probably didn't want to pay for it.

Thanks for the info. I called the shop and it's the first time the car has been at the shop. I am welcome to go and look but customer has key. Emailed owner to see if the timing belt, water pump, suspension and PCV has been done.

Registration expired 12/18 which is not a good thing if it sat for almost 2 years, especially on the new tires if that's the case.

Any car that can’t he started and run is a $500 parts car unless there is deep trust between buyer and seller

Was going to look at a S60 in the afternoon but after viewing this video decided against it. Will now only consider a S60R AWD for the novelty and fun factor. The S60 shares the same underpinning as the V70 (1:00 in video) and "suppose" to have less legroom but for sure less headroom. There was a discussion here last year on whether the S60 was really just a two seater. From the looks of it, it is and our C30 has more leg room and headroom.

The back seat space in the S60 really is laughable. It's fine for small kids, but anyone taller than that would be pretty uncomfortable.

I was thinking $500 also but thought the owner might think I'm trying to steal it from him. If the car doesn't work out the rims and tires are worth that.

Putting this Recall here. Considering an XC90 (below) so I can park and Non_Op the 03 S80 T6 till it's repaired. Any input on the XC90 would be appreciated. Thanks.

"November 7, 2020 — A Volvo airbag death has led to a recall of more than 54,000 model year 2001-2003 S60 and S80 vehicles that were sold or registered in these locations:...

Model year 2001-2003 S60 and S80... Volvo will send interim recall notices to owners beginning January 4, 2021, then second recall notices will be sent when replacement airbags are available. According to the automaker, the parts should be available sometime during the first quarter of 2021."

If someone here decides to buy this before I finish my research by all means please do.
