Hey

Recently replaced the Shift solenoid S2 and then the gearbox worked fine for a few months, but now just recently im starting to get the 3-2-2 incorrect gear ratio code.

Everytime when i start the car its not slipping or anything but when it should shift to 3rd gear it just doesnt it goes into neutral and just doesnt seem to shift. it takes a good amount of seconds until the gearbox throws the flashing arrow and goes into limp. and then it suddenly can drive on 3rd gear or is it 4th?

Oil level is good and tried to clean and replace the copper contacts on the pnp switch no difference.

On older cars check and clean connectors. Check wiring for shorts and opens.

DTC 3-2-2 information

Condition

The control module calculates the ratio between the transmission input rpm and the car speed. There is a specific ratio for each gear. If the TCM registers a ratio deviation of more than 10%, the DTC 3-2-2 is set.

Possible source
  • Interference with or signal errors on the signal from the transmission rpm sensor
Interference with or signal errors on the signal from the vehicle speed VS signal from the combined instrument
Contact resistance in the Solenoid S1 or S2 circuit.
    Gear position sensor incorrectly adjusted
    Malfunction in gear position sensor
    Transmission oil level too low.
Mechanical fault in the transmission. Worn componenents in the transmission causing slippage or reduced system pressure.

Have checked The solenoids S1 and s2 is 17ohms dunno if 2ohms over would make a difference. Rest of The sensors within spec.

When it goes in limp, i can select 3 and it engages 3rd gear and put it in D it engages 4th.

Everytime i restart The car it still only change gears to 2 second gear. And it takes 30-60sec sometimes until it goes i to limp.
I can Force it by revving more above like 5k rpm then it engages limp faster.

More testning. Replaced tcm no difference.
Tried to start and take off in L. To around 3000rpm 30km/h then switched to 3 i felt it shifted second then 3rd Quickly afterwards drove fine around 70km/h then switched to D shifted to 4th. Around 90km/kmh i felt it engages The OD. So seems like the tranny works doing this way.

My concern is in L i should have both 1st and 2nd gear right? But only seem to get 1st gear.

Today still stuck in 1st gear.

Took it for a long spin suddenly it went into limp mode so quickly reseted code with the key 4 times. did that like 3 times then suddenly the gearbox went back to normal and started shifting through all gears like nothing happend. continued driving for 1hr to see and its like it fixed itself

Starting to wonder if i got a stuck solenoid.

Did put 12v straight to the solenoids, and the SL solenoid did not click at all.

Have now solved this problem fingers crossed.
Replaced all of The solenoids since i bought a complete valve body. Now it shifts normally. But i suspect The SL solenoid was stuck even tho it gave correct ohms.

Hopefully This might be helpful for others aswell!
