2012 S60 died this morning. Timing belt issue?

I started the car this morning and was sitting for a few seconds, when it rumbled and died. When I try to start is, it just whirrs. There is a strand coming off one of the belts, but is otherwise intact and everything spins, but there's not engagement.

My research so far leads me to believe the timing belt might be the culprit.

I pulled the timing belt cover and everything looks fine there. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

The engine is dead!

I live in the Washington DC metro area. Anyone know of a good place to find a used, low-mileage engine?
