There was no way I was going underneath this car while I was cutting frame members. All bets are off when you are cutting support structure to the underbelly.

I cribbed the back axle with lumber, and had jack stands under the rocker, but the first line of defense was no body parts, including feet, ever went under the car during this.

Hey - in your pic, is your pawl lock bar all the down? Mine sit lower than that, and that is important for full pawl engagement.

??

Im going to try harvest a passenger floor piece from this car, but that will also be from up top, where my biggest danger is a 6 inch fall.

Don't be this guy

Wow, now THAT is impressive! Showing off his new Daytona jack too!

I think the pawl was fully engaged, it's probably the angle of the picture. I always make sure, especially when I use those stands. Those are the newer SKU that doesn't have the issue with the pawl engagement. When compared to my other ones that I returned, the difference is night and day. The lever doesn't go down nearly as much on the recalled stands.

Hell, I don't mind it! My cousin complains every time I drag him there with me (he's 22... only 6 months older than me, but you'd think he's 62 with how much he complains) but you gotta be quick to get the good stuff! I can't keep pulling M66s alone, too much work.

There is nothing cool about getting hurt working on your car, either short term or long term.

Full face shield
Glasses
Heavy leather gloves
Good shoes
Ear muffs.

Grinders and Sawzall blades can fly stuff off with high velocity

Be safe out there. Here’s some motivation for the visually oriented....

I've been looking for a decent face shield since March. Unfortunately due to the PPE shortages, the only ones I ever find are the flimsy Covid-proof ones. I want a real one that will hold up to a flying grinder wheel!
Always take precautions while using tools like grinders... I've seen/heard too many horror stories of exploding grinder wheels to use one without eye protection.

Try industrial supply and welding shops for heavy duty face shields. These type of injuries are way too common. One online source with stock on hand.
