Its a 1998 s70 5 speed N/A, It was brought back from Germany while the previous (who knows how many???) owner was overseas.

Cost $450 dollars with a pile of problems. So, I don't know shit about Volvos, and broke. Great combo right? haha. But I'm pretty good with vehicles, went to tech school, heavy diesel mechanic blah blah. Anyways, this post is going to be the build of this neglected, but straight body Volvo.....for cheap/tastefully ghetto. Because the way my luck is with vehicles, some dumb blonde will jump a ditch with it in a couple years.
It needs, a clutch, M/S combo, AND lol an
Ignition switch- Complete lack of gauges and a dragging starter.
Drivers door panel- ripped up and self tapping screwed together.
Left rear window inop.
Trunk lid that tries to murder you
Corner lights
sunroof leaks
every interior clip is broken from being disassembled incorrectly
and so so so so so so much more. I think it was abused from 2011 till now. BUT! no point just looking at it, I have it apart before i even rolled it off the trailer. But it runs. haha
So out comes the ignition switch

Its chewed up from opening the can up. But I got in and sanded the contact points with 600 grit and contact cleaner. I have the harness side soaking in QD cleaner hopefully this helps the dragging starter and no gauges, but well have to wait until the morning.
Working top down, the next order of business is waterproofing. I don't like wet nasty interiors so the the roof racks are already off (aftermarket), and sunroof glass is already out. I pushed up the glass and got it reluctantly into the vent position and unscrewed the glass out. I oiled the linkage with a little ATF and found a clip from the sunscreen in the track. There was also a huge piece of material that was kind of like a cigarette fliter clogging the left side sunroof drain. This should cut down on the mildew tremendously (But it does give it that Volvo charm, nothing smells like it).
EKK RUST

So I soaked the metal frame with ATF to slow the rust and cleaned the seals with silicone paste. Pic include are the roof racks I'm going to refinish.

Swelling up

paid close attention to the mounting points.

The ugly truth.
HAHA but the worlds not perfect. One day ill get the hair up my ass to paint and reseal the metal frame. But I'm on a schedule, I just want it to slide in the closed position correctly for now. IE NOT LEAK.
That as much as I really have at the moment, its just day #2 of Volvo ownership. Tomorrow the pressure washer comes out. I'm shooting for the end of next week to have this transmission out. and see what's going on with the clutch. sorry I had to change pic hosting
