This is good. Really good. Thanks.

(The cynical me says of course Ancestry is trying to sell DNA tests)

The curious me wonders how they determined the first volunteer "pure" Swede (or whichever region) in their database was genuinely "Swedish," other than them saying they were from Sweden and their great grandparents were from Sweden. His/her family could have moved there 200 years ago and the stats are off from the beginning.

Interesting that their test focuses on accuracy at a couple of hundred years, versus the type that tries for 10,000 to 50,000 years and tries to find your ancient tribe. That would certainly be fun, but imagine the dilution of family trees over that immense period. You're really a product of widespread humanity.

For me, it's Colorado / Montana / Washington - a child of the Northern Rockies and Pacific NW. The ancestry is Montana, Wyoming, Missouri, New York, Ireland / Cork, Scotland, France, Germany, Holland. Northern European mutt obviously. I'd enjoy finding out in that test that there's some Italian and some Cuban and some African, but unlikely. My sister always tells people I was adopted....Gypsies (apologies if that's a pejorative term).

More like a way for the long arm of the law to have a broader base of DNA to use without due process... I know my family are descendants of the Wolfe, no question about it! June

Our roots go back to Wales , near the present day WELSH/English border near Telford

I was born in Bristol UK but my folks all came from the West Midlands, Dudley

My dad brought us here to build Saturn V , lunar lander, and the Space Shuttle. He did Concorde before that. Wanker underachiever
