Hi,
We have a 2007 XC90 2.4 D5.
About 2 months ago, it just decided it wont crank. VERY long story short - new injectors later - it cranked again 2 weeks ago. Was running fine for about 25km, and then it cut out while driving. Stood for about 5min, and then cranked again, but in limp mode.
From there, every time it cranks, it dies again - no idle unless we rev for couple of seconds - then it takes. Was jumping in and out of limp mode for about 100km. Got home, it died. And there its stood ever since - no crank.
Husband plugged in diagnostic pc - shows fuel pressure low. ( keep in mind injectors where replaced 2 weeks ago, only drove about 140km in total with new injectors )
Advised possible problem now: fuel rail sensor, hp sensor, PEM
Any one else got ideas??

If you have VIDA or another diagnostic reader, the exact codes (DTCs) would be good.
On a side note: not that this forum isn't really great, but you may get some better answers for your problem, if you ask in a forum that is based in a country, where the D5 was actually sold, eg. GB or other european countries. If you can't get answers here, try the VolvoOwnersClubGB forum.
EDIT: and don't forget to look in the corresponding areas for the V70/S60, as the engine is the same as in the XC90.

As far as I understand, no crank is not related to the fuel delivery system. Rather to immobilizer or battery power which could also explain the stall. A discharged battery may have enough power to power the electrics, but not to turn the starter or to power the engine plugs. I would start looking at all power cables around battery, alternator, starter and hood fuse panel. A corrosion can also happen inside the red plastic jacket of such cable. Measure the alternator voltage (engine at idle) and battery voltage (disconnect negative, let sit 1h, measure between posts). There may also be a small corroded cable at the top connector of the radiator fan. May I also recommend a second european forum, however I doubt the problem is engine related (but who knows..) https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=37
