Passenger Airbag Off

Post by IslandV70 »

I keep getting Passenger Airbag Off when there is a person sitting there. Usually undoing and refastening the seatbelt fixes it, but it really gets annoying.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Thanks!!!!

Same issue. I usually compliment them saying "You need to gain weight!" and make them do the same thing you said. Sometimes they're not resting their whole bum in the right area and moving around fixes it. Every person is different and they won't sit the same as the previous person at the same position the seat is set to. Otherwise, I would like to know what can be done as well.

I have recently replaced the seat skins and cushions on our v70. According to Vida you need to recalibrate the seat occupying sensor in the passenger seat if you remove the skins and or cushions.
I would try this first if you have access to Vida.

Does the seatbelt have anything to do with it? Why does undoing and redoing it fix it?

i doubt its the sensor in the belt latch because its pretty robust but i would first open it up and clean out all the hair and debris in there, i suspect it would be the occupancy sensor in the seat, i believe they use some type of complicated gel filled bladder.
