855 headliner question.

Will a V70 2000 headliner fit an 855? I want to replace the entire roof liner, pulling it out the back. There appear to be minor trim changes in models, I wonder if that matters. Are the V70 headliners more robust, somehow? Is the sunroof plastic trim piece still available from Volvo? Maybe later models have stronger trim pieces. No way not to break this piece just touching it. I know, that's a few questions rolled in to one.

I know things get, well, bizarre in the MY99-00 cars so this may not be applicable. I put a MY98 V70 headliner into my 850, and everything went in perfectly. The two were identical in construction materials and weight, so I don't think they're more robust personally.

Just recover what you have.

I've done it on both our cars (sedan and wagon). There is a trick to getting the sunroof trim off that I haven't been able to master, but it really didn't matter to me, as I replaced it with some of THIS STUFF dyed to what color I needed.

There's a lot of more "standard" material choices available out there. I've done probably 6-8 of them on different cars over the many years.

Thanks, I saw the other posts, looks great. I could just re-cover mine but...I still need to remove the roof liner. Maybe I'll pull as many plastic pillars/trim pieces from the picnsave, with the assumption I'll break a bunch of stuff, and go for it.

The A-pillar trim are pretty stout, but the B-Pillar ones are can be delicate, due to their size. The over-the-door bits aren't too bad.

The point is that each one will choose his own material.

I believe Volvo still sells the sunroof trim, about $25 US.

I also installed a V70 liner in my 855. Now it's due material replacement.

When replacing the material, make sure you shake the can very well or the glue will NOT stick long.
