Re: Can-bus guru's advice needed please.
I appreciate the advice. I've actually tried this more than once. The only place I found any sign of corrosion or buildup was on a main harness plug directly to the left of the CEM above the kickpanel. I cleaned it the best i could but not sure how to clean the plug that the pins go into. I didnt want to bend anything and ruin the harness.
i msg-ed the OP a while back and got this response:
"Hello Raziel
So far so good! I’m not 100% trusting it yet but after fitting the 3rd CEM (repaired ones not new) it seems ok. I’ve started using a Volvo mechanic who said the connectors for the TCM and ECM were in poor state, so we’ve cleaned them.
I hope the S40 is a simple (cheap) fix.
Matt"

I've done all you suggested, no joy. I did finally get a DICE scanner hooked up to it appears I have a short in the wiring or a bad module. Really getting irritated with this thing...

I have all the above issues with my car, RHD 2006 D5 XC70, plus when I try to start the car there is a physical click/tapping at the gear shifter. I initially thought the sound was coming from the area the brake module is in, but if ypu leave a hand on the gear shifter you can actually feel the tapping when ignition is turned to 2 and the car is going through it's diagnostics.

Hello all,
Has anyone solved the issues?
I have similar ones. Tapping sound comes from sifter lever locking pin (you are not able to shift out of P until you press on a brake pedal). It's prob. caused by TCM ecu not being able to communicate on the can network. I.E. can issue.
