It must have been slow speed - maybe a pump, not an engine.

I am coming with a rod length of ~16". Too long for a semi-truck (~10"). Got to be from something heavier.

Could be low speed pump like oil field which can have 8 to 10 inch stroke.

I know of Pump Jacks with reciprocating plunger pumps and Centrifugal transfer pumps. What would a Piston pump be used for in a Oil field?
