Tackling p80 Awd fuel pump

Does anyone know if there’s an obstruction other than the curves of the fuel filler that stops siphoning? My Haynes book says you can siphon at the filler neck .. in the diagram #45 seems like it blocks the tank entrance (part of rollover??). Can’t find it listed anywhere, and not sure if I can link the diagram I mention (second reply down has tank diagram https://volvoforums.com/forum/1998-2000 ... ram-73570/)

This picture may help show all the bends in the system. This is from my 2000 V70R AWD which is similar:

You can see the filler neck on the LHS of the picture and see how many curves it makes to the tank from there. You would have to use a fairly narrow and flexible pipe like a clear 1/2" tubing to get it to turn all the way down there. You may have to go even narrower.
