Rear hatch latch flops around.

96 855 the rear hatch lock is loose and I hear broken ? pieces inside. What is the best way to replace it (decent 855 @ Picnsave) for replacement if needed. Amazingly, it still manages to lock the hatch itself, it's just flopping around though.

The rear hatch trim comes off, three T40 Torx screws on the bottom of the hatch lid, and you Tetris it out of the lid coming up and forwards ( all directions relative to car with latch in closed position

This is for the later latch used on 1998-2000 but earlier are similar

Yikes. I was hoping to "pop" the one out of the 95 and in to mine but looks like it will actually require some thought.

If I can do it, that places an upper limit of thought required to about 1/3 the capacity of this guy

In reality you are far too modest. I'll start with the salvage yard car to orient myself, as I can still lock and unlock mine (for now).
