Correct.

Also, I never use any Auto function of my ECC. Only manual fan speed, temperature, and vent position. I think it reduces wear and tear on the motors. Haven't had the AC on in a couple months.

Thinking it may just be capacitors or some part of the board that's getting weird with the freezing temps?

It could be capacitors being out of spec on cold startups. I have a few ECC's which i can take apart and check to see if this is the case. I once had issues with a manual climate control unit after years of sludge built up on contacts and shorted motors together. This was fixed by cleaning all the motor contacts on the board. Theoretically, if it is just capacitors then we are in the territory of ordering upgrade parts and replacing them on the board to check. If someone posts a picture of the board then that could help.
