Shift knob boot
Does anyone know how to fix this or make it look better? The fake leather is peeling off my shift boot. I don’t want to buy a whole part for it. I can’t figure out how to get the knob off to separate the boot.

This video for an XC70 looks useful:
I've replaced the gear lever boot on a manual. I bought the replacement from eBay. The leather was glued to a frame that clipped into the plastic at the base of the lever and to a ring that clipped into the bottom of the gear knob. I need to cut the old leather away from the frame and ring and reuse these with the new leather. Contact adhesive worked OK.

I will add this, there is a clip at the top of the boot, it is oriented in a certain way when putting it back, then as in the video above, need to undo the plate with the digits, and I believe the boot is either glued or stapled to the plate. Need to detach first the boot at the top, then pull the knob: it will often times feel like it's impossible to pull it out, jut keep the pressure on it for 30 seconds or more, it will eventually come out
