I just purchased a 2006 Volvo s80 2.5T with 165,000 miles on her. The other day it was sprinkling and I thought it would be a great idea to open the sunroof to mess with my friends. when I tried to close the sunroof (was not open very long) it would start to close but would not finish almost like it was getting stuck. so I opened it and tried the second time the same result. I threw a tarp over her and looked at it the next day.
When I looked I noticed these small brackets held in by a black adhesive which held in the wind shade/redirector. It looked like they were coming off so I cleaned it up and reapplied new black adhesive and clamped it down and had it set overnight. when I tried in the morning I had the same issue nothing had changed.
I messed around with it and found when I tried to close it until it got stuck and then push the button to vent hot air (where the sunroof would be a slant with the back raised) it would move another inch or so but would still not fully close.
I read a bunch of forms and found that when you replace the battery this can mess things up with Volvos which I did because the battery was dead when I bought it. and that some sunroofs need to be reset to work right and if anyone knew how and if it had to be closed to do this. I was hoping someone could help me or point me in the right direction. Thank you
